So you may have head the news that Fusion Mineral Paints are moving from Chirpy

After 2 brilliant years of us collaborating with Done up North she is expanding her amazing business & moving into her new HQ in Farsley this weekend

It perhaps hasn’t been as smooth a transition as we’d hoped in so fares no proper handover, live videos of us saying farewell and thank you, more of Nicky sneaking into Chirpy while it was shut this afternoon to take all the stock, posters & display unit!

As of tomorrow, Saturday 21st March, you’ll be able to collect paint from Nicky at her new premises

NEW Week day Daytime workshops launched!

If you’ve visited Chirpy yo’ll know what a wonderful workshop space we have upstairs, which we use a lot on an evening and weekend for workshops, events and creative parties.

it’s also where we sell a lot of our homewares, including cushions and prints, and most importantly it’s where I can make myself a coffee!

For a while I’ve been wanting to use the space more during the week to expand our workshop programme, to offer workshops to people who don’t work during the week, are on maternity leave, work shifts or just have some free time on week days.

So I’m delighted to launch the first of our range of daytime workshops starting in April.

23rd April 11am - 1:30pm Arm Knitting

28th April 10am - 1pm Learn to Knit

14th May 10am - 1pm Gelli Print Workshop

20th May 10:30am - 1pm Silver Ring Workshop

4th June 10am - 1pm Lino Cut workshop

Heard the news? We're going Plastic Free!

In Chirpy we’re embracing the new focus on becoming plastic free.

Many of our suppliers are now offering us the chance to have their cards ‘naked’ - that doesn’t mean rude cards, just not wrapped in a plastic sleeve. In fact some suppliers aren’t even giving us the choice and are moving to deliver all their new cards plastic free!

It’s great news environmentally as ever little thing we can do will help, but I have to say we did have reservations to begin with! How will we store & display them, will they get more easily damaged and dog eared, will we end up wasting the damaged ones, will people then take more bags to protect them?

Overall our fears have been allayed - the cards are staying in perfect condition on the shelf and if not then we will give customers a fresh card and actually most customers are not asking for bags. We’re still working out the perfect way to display & store them, and when we eventually get new display shelves then this will be the most important consideration but all in all it’s been a really positive experience.

So next time you’re in Chirpy, check out the dedicated shelf for plastic free ‘naked’ Birthday cards and you’ll also find other occasion cards without plastic sleeves too, including lots of our Valentine’s cards

What’s more, many of our stationery suppliers are starting to provide their stationery, such as notepads, list pads etc without plastic sleeves.

We’re delighted to be blazing the trail in Chapel Allerton with this new way of supplying environmentally sustainable cards to our customers! Hope you like them too! We’d love to hear you’re feedback

NEXT 4 week Creative Writing course launched! Starts 22nd April

Release your inner poet!

Following the success of the previous 2 courses, we’re delighted to launch the next 4 week Creative Writing Course, led by local poet Siobhan MacMahon

Suitable for anyone (16+) who has ever wanted to try their hand at writing poetry. Just bring a pen and a notebook and enjoy letting your creativity flourish!

The workshop run on 4 consecutive Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30pm - the cost of the course is £60 for all 4 weeks

Drop in & Knit!

We’re delighted to welcome back Jane from Baa Ram Ewe with her (almost) weekly Free Drop in sessions.

If you’re working on a knitting project and need some help, need a bit of advice about a crochet pattern you’re attempting or just fancy a knit & natter for a couple of hours on a Saturday then why not pop in and join her upstairs. The kettle will be on and Jane will be more than happy to help you out.

If you’re coming along to one of our workshops you’ll find the shop is Open 1/2 hour before the workshop starts so you can have a chance for a bit of shopping and take advantage of 10% off (except on Fusion Paint & certain Art)
